🤲🏽 Reflection
Three months into 2025, I was laid off.
Three months later, I passed the SHRM-CP exam, something I doubted I could do years ago.
Six months later, my old company asked me to return, and I did.
2025 unfolded in a way I couldn’t have imagined. A mirror was held up to me on several occasions, and at this point, it’s like: okay… how much longer am I going to look away?
This year forced me to be honest about change. Real change takes time. It’s built slowly and intentionally, habit by habit. I’ve learned that I do small things to build a muscle I can apply elsewhere. This newsletter is one example. The YouTube channel is another. Even something simple, like drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning. When I stay consistent, it builds confidence and courage to go do the next thing.
I heard someone say the key to consistency is committing daily, even if it looks different each time. Over time, it becomes part of your life. Obvious advice, but harder to practice than it sounds.
This year also reinforced the truth behind “no one is coming to save you.” It’s terrifying but also emboldening. We’re all being humbled in different ways, and that shared shift somehow makes the weight feel more manageable.
Heading into 2026, my expectations are mostly for myself; there’s no pressure and more intention. I’m excited to keep chipping away and sharing whatever lessons, gems, and stories come with it.
And as always, thank you for reading yet another email. Lawd. 😅
Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a healthy, fruitful 2026.
💭 One Thing Before You Go…
Everyone’s sharing Spotify Wrapped, but I’m genuinely proud of the year-end roundup I got from Beehiiv - go us! lol I’m looking forward to exploring new ways to grow here, and in the meantime, I’ll continue refining the flow and topics.
See you in the New Year 🤍
