Lately, I’ve been collecting the little moments that feel like a wink from the universe, the you’re not crazy moments, the it’s going to be ok, girl, moments.

This is also my way of grounding myself after a rough week. It was my birthday, and I had hoped to have a new job by now. This month marks four months of being unemployed, and while I know I’m not the only one navigating this in-between period, it absolutely sucks sometimes, and the emotional rollercoaster is real. Have you felt this before? When milestones pass and the thing you hoped for still hasn’t arrived…

Nonetheless, here’s me holding onto the good, even when it feels small. Here are five things that made me feel seen this week:

  1. My daughter’s “I got it” moments
The confidence and self-trust this girl is developing is beyond me, in the best way. From climbing out of the tub by herself, to making major progress with potty training, to being the best helper, she’s reminding me that our routines, our encouragement…it’s all working. She got it, and so do I.

  1. A random, “cook whatever is in the pantry” meal came together deliciously
We’re overdue for a grocery run, so we had to turn up the pantry improv. I threw together a Fire-Roasted Tomato Rice with Air-Fried Salmon, and it did what it was supposed to do! I got some good feedback. It reminded me that I don’t have to always stick to a plan. Creativity in survival mode is still creativity.

  1. This quote: "Sometimes in life, you are responsible for changing something, not because you are to blame, but because you are the only person who can."

I found this in the comments of an interview clip with Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett, a psychologist and neuroscientist. Damn, the accountability! Growth doesn’t always feel fair, but it’s still ours to do.

  1. A long chat with a friend who is also laid off
We didn’t fix anything. We just talked about the job market, interviews, rejection fatigue, what we’re grieving, and what we’re still hoping for. Hearing “same here” from someone who gets it in real time… it lifted the weight a little. The older I get, the more I realize that being understood is everything.

  1. A thank you for doing the little things

There’s something about being appreciated for the small stuff: washing the laundry (even if it’s your turn), the dinner cooked, the text followed up on…that hits deep when your capacity is already stretched (mentally, physically, both!) This week, a small “thank you” helped me remember I’m doing a lot, even as I’m moving quickly, going through the motions, and not always pausing to notice it myself.

One question I want to ask myself weekly: What would it look like to be proud of how I’m showing up, even in the in-between, when waiting feels heavy and the path is unclear?

🎨 Creative Tingz

Lately, I’ve been using AI magic to revamp one of my digital downloads on Etsy: a gestational diabetes guide I created based on my own experience, insights from a dietitian I worked with, and some personal research. I also gave my shop a new name: Honestly, Saame: Relatable goods with validating vibes. I’m still refining what I want to offer, but it’s been grounding to create from a place of lived experience and feels very fitting! More to come!

Sidenote, not related: I finally wrote a welcome message for new subscribers! We are getting it together, ok?

💭 One Thing Before You Go…

If you’ve been spiraling or riding an emotional rollercoaster lately (same here), this chart can help bring you back to earth. Or if you know someone whose brain has been doing the most, send it their way. When your thoughts start to spiral and anxiety peaks, pull this up and follow the arrows. You don’t have to have it all figured out; you need a place to start.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have the weekend you deserve, and if you have any ideas for upcoming posts, reach out!

Take care :)
